Pack A Suitcase Full Of Travel Tips

By Johnathan Black

Given the turbulent economic times, you are probably thinking that scaling back your expenses and skipping your next vacation are good ideas. This article is filed with useful tips you can use to save money while traveling.

Luggage is often a large problem when people travel. While it might seem like a good idea to buy your children small size luggage, remember that they are entitled to a full size carry-on on most major air carriers. This extra luggage space can often save you from checking an extra piece of baggage. This will save you from $25 to $50 on most airlines!

Taking time to travel to new areas while on the way to an intended travel destination can help one find new places to stay at for the next time they want to take a trip. Side trips can often yield new and exciting places for one to explore either on their trip or to book a separate trip to experience fully.

Don't take sleep aids until you've taken off. If you use sleep aids to help you get through a long flight, wait until after you're airborne to pop the pill. If you take them earlier, you run the risk being unbearably tired if your flight is delayed or you have to deplane and take a later flight.

One way of minimizing ice buildup on your windshield is to park your car with the windshield facing away from the prevailing wind. Another way too few of us think about is to cover our windshields with a throw rug when we park our vehicles. Tuck the edge in under your windshield wipers and your car will be as snug as a bug in a rug.

Take work with you. If you spend a small amount of time performing work tasks on your trip, be it for business or pleasure, you can then deduct the expenses of that trip on your income taxes. Check with your tax professional for details about what you can and can't do, but make sure you save those receipts.

As previously mentioned, tight economic times may have caused you to feel as if you cannot afford a vacation this year. Whether you're traveling for business or pleasure, it takes a lot of effort and consideration to create an effective travel plan. Failing to make arrangements for even one element of your trip can result in a loss of time, money or enjoyment. Use the tips and hints in the above article to ensure that you have a safe and pleasurable trip from start to finish.
