Parks in NYC: Washington Square Park

Washington Square Park, New York, is situated in Manhattan's Greenwich Village and is a favourite local park for residents and holiday makers, as well. Events in Washington Square Park are numerous and some of the most popular include concerts, out of doors theatre, art and varied workshops.



Free Summer Concerts

The Washington Square Music Festival 2011 starts in July and will have concerts every Tuesday evening at 8:00 pm. The concerts will run from July thru August. Come join us for an evening of soothing classical music and jazz with conductor Lutz Rath. This year, the Washington Square Musical Festival will celebrate 53 years of free concerts and is the second oldest free classical music series in NYC. The concerts are played in front of the Holley Statue in the center of Washington Square. In case of rain, concerts are moved to St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 371 6th Avenue at Washington Place, in Greenwich Village.

NYLaughs ' Laughter in the Park 2011

NyLaughs ' Laughter in the Park is a free comedy series that runs for eleven weeks, beginning August 14, 2011, from 2:00-4:00 pm. Location is at Holley Plaza. Patrons should enter thru Washington Square west and walk east.

Mommy/Daddy and Me Photography Workshop

The New York City Photo Safari (newyorkcityphotosafari.com) will be putting together a fun filled photo workshop for kids, Moms and Dads. This workshop will happen October 2, 2011 from 9:00-11:00 am. Learn how to work on your photography talents by taking photos of the surrounding environment and taking family stills. You're going to like this special afternoon with your youngster or youngsters. Classes are $150. (for one parent and one youth) and this price incorporates a great quality 8X10 of your best photograph. You must bring your own digital camera and, if at all possible, it is best to bring two cameras - one for you and one for your kid. The Mommy/Daddy and Me is at 5th Avenue and Washington Square North, Manhattan.
